I’d completely forgotten about these photos I’d scanned but never got around to posting. I think most of them were taken with the rolleiflex (if not all) around April of this year. I figured I’d never get around to posting them all to flickr so why not through up a bunch of the random unposted shots on the blog.

For the 4th we had food and friends over. We started the day with water balloons and sprinklers and ended it with a walk to watch the fireworks. I didn’t take too many photos but did get a few off when they were looking out the kitchen window. The 3 older kids were off playing during the watermelon window time so i didn’t get any good ones of them.

All the photos are taken with the 35mm f/2 on the d700, shot raw and converted to JPG. no edits except for the crop on the last photo.

I bought a house, we had the house painted and we’ve cleaned and moved and have still be cleaning and fixing. So far walking by the fence line we’ve spotted 2 cats, a tiny dog, a squirrel and a HUGE skunk. In an attempt to catch that skunk we caught a baby opossum this morning who we’ve named “Possy the Opposum”.

I bought a house with lots of windows and lots of light… which means lots of window cleaning and hanging of blinds and coverings. I’ve been internet free at home for the past few weeks and will continue to be for a few more days. In it all I’ve found a little time to get out and enjoy the good light around our new neighborhood.

Trying to find a love for 35mm

I haven’t ever really loved shooting 35mm film. There’s a special magic in medium format. Due to nothing more than laziness I decided to take Ricky’s Canon AE-1 with just a 50mm 1.8 out one evening instead of lugging around my hasselblad. It was loaded with Provia 400x he was pushing to 1600. I wasn’t particularly excited about getting the film processed thinking… well, another 35mm roll but was really pleased with the results.

My children are uno aficionados. The little one wakes up asking to play uno and they challenge nearly every person that steps into our house. I love their love of Uno because it was one of my favorite games as a kid.

Carny-Ville

On Friday evening we went to a little Carnival in town where I proceeded to bleed money while the Carnies tried to hustle me. I lugged the Hasselblad 3 backs and a pola back and ended up only taking a few digital photos.

5 dollar dog she won. Her sister won a 5 dollar elephant at the balloon darts. The Carny tried to hustle me and start handing me darts to throw “on him” for an upgrade to the next level, unless of course I popped a balloon with that “on him” dart where it then because a FIVE DOLLAR DART. um, thanks but no thanks my children were fine with the pride of winning those little toys.

We then rode the longest carousel ride, ever. The big one didn’t care to ride but the Carny told her she could ride for free and “made” her get on. She did enjoy the mini coaster and the giant slide a few times.

Adventuring

Last weekend we went on a little walk. We also fed some cows some celery and saw a billy goat and pigs and things but somehow I didn’t take a single photo of any of that.

After a rock skipping competition we spotted the teenage mutant ninja turtles hanging out on a log

I found a spot i wanted for photos… but have no idea what was going on

We hung out an bridge for a while where the Pina decided the waterfall needed a little bit more water

Blew Lima bean bubbles, jumped and just played around in the good bokeh.

Then they walked ahead holding hands, unprompted. I basically pushed the guys out of the way when i saw it happen to get the shot. Mom Moments.

Mike had the girls do a “slowest walker” race which I’ll probably have to steal from him to get them to stay still enough for photos.

We ended the day with zachary’s pizza, mmmm.. we had an unfortunately tragic green crayon breaking though.

Spent a few hours at Tilden park this weekend packing the Instax and Rolleiflex. I’m trying to find love for the Instax, got a few fun photos in this weekend but it’s not a camera I tend to think of grabbing when I head out the door.

Came across these blossoms we were required to stop for, i mean, how could you not.

The trees there were big.

Despite threats of rain it was really really nice out. Perfect light. I think our weather persons scare us with threats of weekend rain to make us appreciate the good weather more.

It was a clear day and we could see the golden gate bridge from here. You can see it ever so faintly in the actual photo. So if you look at the shot below and really look hard and squint maybe you can see it. maybe.
